My Lancashire wedding venues – Shaw Hill
A year round Lancashire wedding venue, and a great backdrop for your wedding photography. Discover Shaw Hill in Chorley.
I’m going to go out on something a limb here. I think Shaw Hill is even better for autumnal and winter weddings than it is in summer. I’m talking from a wedding photography perspective, of course (the food, entertainment and facilities are lovely all year round) but there’s something about the colours of autumn, or snow on the ground, which turn this Georgian manor house into something spectacular.
But I’m getting ahead of myself. Let’s have some basic details first. Shaw Hill describes itself as a ‘golf resort and spa’ which tells you two things: first, its grounds are huge. And second, guests can use your wedding as the perfect excuse for a weekend of pampering.
The package range is wide and easy to understand (which makes a refreshing change). Evening receptions need a minimum of 100 people (80 in winter), and I always have a soft spot for anywhere that’s prepared to offer a hot pot as an alternative to the traditional buffet.
From this Preston wedding photographer’s point of view, there are some great shots to be had here. Those big Georgian windows make a dramatic frame for a bridal shot, while the sweeping lawns and dramatic house make a grand setting for outdoor shoots.
But back to my initial point. Autumn and winter may not be everyone’s idea of the perfect wedding seasons, but this place looks amazing under a blanket of snow, or when the leaves of its grand trees start turning yellow and red. Winter makes for a lower cost wedding too, with some great rates between October and March. And if you want a budget busting Lancashire wedding photographer too, take a look at this offer.
