My Lancashire wedding venues – Clifton Arms Hotel

The only Lancashire wedding venue on the list that overlooks a windmill.

Let’s be brutally honest. Despite its Grade II listing, the Clifton Arms Hotel isn’t the prettiest Lancashire wedding venue on this list. It doesn’t have acres of grounds. It doesn’t have a spa or pool you can go and relax in pre or post wedding. And as function rooms go, well, you need a wedding venue stylist with a bit of imagination to make the straight lines of the hotel’s rooms feel more personal.

But if you wanted a venue in acres of parkland you’d have picked one. People choose this Lytham wedding venue because of the two p’s: position and pedigree.

The position is…well, it’s perfection. The vast green swathe of Lytham’s promenade sits right outside. And just a little along the green is Lytham windmill – one of the most distinctive locations for a wedding shoot you’ll find, well, anywhere.

Then there’s that pedigree. Not every Lancashire wedding venue offers a red carpet reception. Not every Lancashire wedding venue plays host to the world’s golfing greats every time the Open passes through. And not every Lancashire wedding venue manages to evoke such a feeling of effortless class.

Not content to rest on its laurels, the hotel is undergoing a gradual, wholesale renovation. There are newly decorated rooms every time I visit, and the food and service stays top notch.
