My Preston Wedding Venues – The Villa
In the latest of an occasional series looking at what I love about the Preston wedding venues I shoot most often, it’s time to head west.
Wrea Green is the sort of village you might imagine doesn’t exist anymore. It’s got a green. And a duck pond. And a (rather good) village pub and restaurant. A short hop from Preston, just off the Kirkham roundabout on the Blackpool Road, Wrea Green looks like the perfect place to settle down – if you can afford the whopping house prices.
Fortunately, even if you can’t live here, you can at least make the village the base for your wedding because it’s flanked by two of Lancashire’s best wedding venues. On the Kirkham/Preston side is Ribby Hall (follow the link to read my thoughts on that), and on the fringes of the village as you head toward Lytham is The Villa.
I love the Villa. A lot. You can always tell a wedding photographer’s favourite venues because they’ll be the one’s appearing again and again on their website Homepage gallery. And if you take a look at the slideshow on my homepage, you won’t have to click too far to reach shots taken in and around The Villa.
Why choose The Villa?
You get a real feeling of private seclusion as you take the meandering driveway to the doors of The Villa. A stone’s throw from the village and only around 8 miles from Preston to the east and Blackpool to the west, you feel as if you’re in the middle of the countryside.
On a warm summer’s day the manicured lawn and patio make a great spot for guests to mingle. And in the chill of spring or autumn there’s a real welcoming homeliness about the hotel, its restaurant and rooms.
A wedding at The Villa
The hall accommodates 150. Choose the outdoor Pavilion for larger numbers (it’s licensed for 300) whilst the Garden Room and Piano Lounge are perfect for more intimate weddings, catering for 26-48 respectively.
Food is a real highlight, and I’m always impressed by the sheer choice available. And then there’s the ambience. Sophisticated yet charming. Grand yet delicately detailed. And more than the odd spot for some really stylish, personal wedding photography.
Make sure there’s a place for The Villa on your list of potential Preston wedding venues.
